My purpose
is to SEE
the trip.
To record the things that I find exciting, nice, painfully pretty, or challenging.
To format the recordings in such a fashion that the results interest others.
To interest others to the point where they exchange value for ART.
To leave behind a legacy of art as value.
To teach only when sought, i.e., to avoid offering unwanted, intrusive opinions about others.

I am not a photographer ...
If I want
realistic images, I take snapshots.
If I want good travel photos, I buy postcards. If I want things that are meaningful to me, I draw pictures.
I might read on a trip, but not usually.
The size of your gear is determined by the size of your traveling mode.
If you capture enough data, you can always make a more complete, clean, effective piece back in the studio.
When you steadfastly practice your own method, you will become proficient in your method. If you push your abilities, your method will evolve and improve. If you seek a teacher, be prepared to unlearn and give up habits you are fond of, unless you don’t want that lesson.
A teacher might appear to ignore your questions. If this is happening, you might try living with confusion for a while.
Draw to eliminate visual clutter, picking a motif/counter.
Select your own library/vocabulary of visual cues, colors, things that serve your purpose.
